WORKSHOP

Superintendent Green presented a PowerPoint presentation on the details of the new budget (HB2242) that came in response the McCleary decision.  He presented significant changes and likely impacts to Woodland Public Schools, including probable financial deficits and/or significant program cuts. The presentation started with some historical information on basic education funding.  The PowerPoint continued onto salary allocations and regionalization information for Woodland and surrounding school districts. An overview of significant reductions in levy and Local Effort Assistance (LEA), including dollar amounts were presented to the school board. It gave a very clear picture of the high impact Woodland Schools will be facing within the next three years.

The second part of the workshop focused on the current results of the districts performance goals for graduation rates and high school course failure, student growth, and proficiency and school attendance. Each school principal presented an overview of each area to the school board explaining the year-end goal, the current status, and efforts toward meeting the goals.

RECESS

The regular meeting was recessed at 7:45 p.m. to enter into executive session under RCW 42.30.110 (1)(g).

ADJOURNMENT

President Watts reconvened the meeting into open session and adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
