Re:      October Review

Here is an overview of the key activities we worked on in relation to teaching and learning this month.

Monday's: We had five Monday's this month for staff development activities.  We spent two in department collaboration and one with Navigation 101 training and one was connected to our School Improvement Planning (SIP) activities.  During our district directed day (DDPD) on Monday, October 10th we spent a good deal of time on our school improvement plan, learning a new technology applications (google docs and turnitin.com), and departments working together.  This was another good month for staff development.

Other information:  Fall conferences were very well attended again this year. We had all of our staff members contact the parents of their students in advisory to invite them to conferences and we also used the robo call system.  Our new OT/Advisory system appears to be working well and we anxiously await data from first quarter grades. Also, our first edition of the new school newspaper came out this month.  The paper is an excellent representation of our student's abilities to write and put together a professional looking newspaper.  Ms. Joan Huston is our advisor and I applaud her efforts.  I hope you had an opportunity to see an edition as it was very impressive.  I also wanted to give a shout out to Mr. Vetter and Mrs. Morgan for all of their work in organizing "Make a Difference" day.  We had about 70 students of all ages participating on Saturday, October 22nd to help make Woodland a better place to live and work.

All is all it was a good productive month at Woodland High School.
