Re:       Monthly Woodland High School Report

Here is an overview of the key activities we worked on in relation to teaching and learning during January.

  • Monday’s:

We had three Monday’s this month and used all three of them in department collaboration time.  Many of the departments were finalizing their final preparation.  We also read a professional article on questioning strategies and then had our departments talk about the various strategies and how they may be able to implement them in their individual classes.

  • Finals:
Another excellent year of finals.  There was a very good and appropriate tone in the high school as we ended the semester with finals.

  • Other information:I thought I would mention that we currently have 31 students who were enrolled in “College in the High School” courses at Woodland High school taking a total of 173 college credits through Central Washington University. In addition to this number, we also have 28 students taking a total of 140 credits through Lower Columbia College (LCC).  This program has been a tremendous benefit for some of our students and with the recently awarded state grant of $10,000, we hope to have more students earning college credits while staying right here at Woodland High School. We held a wonderful FBLA regional competition at school on Monday, February 1st which was attended by almost 350 students (including WHS) from around the region.  Special thanks to Mrs. Rose Ruff for her work in organizing this event. It was a wonderful way to showcase our new school to adults and students from the region.
