RE:        TEAM High School Update

The state is requiring increased paperwork and verification of alternative schools in hopes of obtaining $41,000,000.  This has caused us at TEAM to spend more time documenting and justifying student enrollment which has taken time away from teaching and learning.  After attending a conference in the spring, one in late August and one last week, we are quickly learning that the destination has not been set nor the path to get there.  For example in the last month written student learning plans have been revised thereby causing us to change ours.  Due to excessive changes and ever increasing regulations, Michael has granted us permission to seek outside help through Washington Alternative Learning Association.  We should know more about dates and times by the middle of October.  With their help we feel we can be firmly grounded in our procedures and documentation. 

Our enrollment at TEAM High School this year is slightly below our expectations but is slowly rising.  We hope to reach 85 and remain steady.  We are awaiting math and science supplemental materials.  By using these we hope our students learn and retain more which should help our state assessment scores in these two areas.
