Re: WMS March 2019 Board Report
The following are the key happenings at Woodland Middle School:
8th GRADE HIGH SCHOOL VISIT
On Tuesday, 3/19, our eighth grade students visited the high school. They were divided into ten groups hosted by leadership students. Eighth graders had the opportunity to visit numerous classes, hear from staff, and forecast for next year. Shout out to the high school for their efforts planning this neat opportunity.
STATE ASSESMENTS
We began our state assessments on March 15th this year and will be working on those until mid-June. We started with our English Language Arts which will be followed by Math and then Science. Things are running smoothly during the first few weeks and we will jump start again after spring break.
TRACK AND FIELD
We are in the process of recruiting for our Track program. So far, we have 90 athletes signed up and we anticipate the number to rise above 100 participants. We begin practice on March 25th.
TALENT SHOW
The Annual WMS Talent Show will be Friday, March 29. Over 65 students auditioned last week with the hopes of making the talent show. The leadership class and teacher narrowed the list down to a variety of 15 different acts that include singing, instrument playing, dancing, comedy, and science experiments! It should be an entertaining show. Rumor has it several staff members are working on a closing act for the show!
Our Students of the Month award winners for February were:
5th- Ava Johnson, Emmanuel Rivera-Guzman
6th- Panda Terry, Miranda Dalpias
7th- Inessa Nyukeyev, Ty Olmstead
8th- Cindy Garcia, Jayden Roth
