RE: Intermediate School Update

  • Next week is conference week and we will be aiming to meet with the parents of each of the students we serve. We will also be encouraging parents to take a few minutes to complete a survey to provide feedback that will guide our work.
  • On March 7th WIS welcomed children and families for our annual Dr. Seuss event. It is estimated that over 300 students and their families were in attendance. Our librarian, Shae Lindsay led a team of faculty and staff to organize and host this great event.  Some of the activities students participated in were to make flubber, trade books and make a Dr. Suess bookmark. Our Scholastic Book Fair also brought in a significant profit. Those funds will be used to purchase a free book for every student in the school.
  • Representatives from our PBIS team attended the Northwest PBIS Conference in Portland. Attendees returned with a renewed vision of the next steps for improving our support systems in the building. They had the opportunity to share what they learned with staff and reaffirm all the successful systems that are currently in place.
  • On March 13th WIS welcomed the Beacon Hill Extreme Team to perform for our students. This group of elementary students from Kelso put on an amazing show of gymnastics and acrobatics with juggling and unicycle riding included. It was a real testament to how hard work and perseverance can pay off. The students and staff enjoyed the show and were impressed.
