RE:                 WPS MONTHLY SCHOOL UPDATE

As we head to Spring Break, our 2nd Tri-mester has concluded with a short week of Conferences.  Turnout was good, and we think most families are adequately up-to-date on their student's progress.  Teacher's and support staff again did an outstanding job going the extra mile to get families into the building to have important conversations!

As conference week concluded, classes and students celebrated Accelerated Reader (AR) points for the Tri-mester with a party organized by Mrs. Deffenbaugh in the library.  Students were able to "exchange" AR points for prizes in the library.

Finally, congratulations to 2nd grader Rayleah Trice (Mrs. Flanagan), and 3rd grader Tucker Traffie (Mrs. Wager) for earning the most AR points!  For their efforts, the Kalama/Woodland Masonic Lodge awarded them each a new bicycle and helmet!

Congratulations Rayleah, and Tucker, and thanks Masons!

The last week of the month also brought the start of a coin collection effort for Japan Earthquake/Tsunami Relief - this particular effort began when some students themselves came and made the suggestion.  Pretty neat to see, along with the fact that in less than a week, two large Gatorade bottles have been almost filled with donations.  This effort will continue the week back from Spring Break.

Also, during March our school conducted 2 GLAD Cohort I Peer Observations, and 2 Peer-Group Observations with our team of teachers that attended Robert Marzano training in December.  Both sets of these visitations were supported and facilitated and supported by Malinda Huddleston and Asha Riley who provided direction, and class coverage for teacher's as they collaborated together.

P.S.  Thank You!

Special appreciation to Tina Cayton and Scott Madsen for your visits to our building on the 22nd!
