Re:      March Review

Here is an overview of the key activities we worked on in relation to teaching and learning this month.

Monday's: We used our Monday's to prepare for Students led conferences, train staff for proctoring the HSPE, department collaboration meetings and of course working our school improvement plan.  I know several of you were able to sit in on a couple of those meetings regarding our SIP.  I am hopeful you found them informative and clear indicator of the level of commitment to our goals and improving our overall school performance.

Senior Culminating Projects: During the three testing days in March we had a significant number of our seniors present and pass their senior presentations.  We had 96 students scheduled and of those 78 passed.  We will have another round in April during the testing day on the April 12th.  We had good support from our community and Heidi Morgan is again to be commended for her efforts in organizing all of the presentations.

Other information: This was a difficult month to develop a rhythm.  We had three days of HSPE, early releases for student led conferences and the official end of 3rd quarter on March 25th. In fact, of the 23 school days this month, we were only able to run a "normal" schedule on 17 of those days.  However, our students and staff do adjust well and we do make good use of the time we have.  I also wanted to note that we did have our first attempt at instructional rounds with 7 (Shari C., Devon F., Matt R., Kash V., Kim M., Carol S., and Jason C.) of our staff members.  They really enjoyed seeing each other teach and particularly the dialogue afterwards.  We will have another round once we return from spring break.
