Learning Assistance Program (LAP)
As we wrap up another successful year of reading and math intervention within our Learning Assistance Program (LAP), our teams at Columbia Elementary and North Fork are making a final push for student growth. We are maximizing every spare moment to analyze student data and shore up any potential gaps. With state assessments taking priority this month, we are excited to see the growth and progress our students have made this year!
Family and Community Resource Center
The Family Community Resource Center (FCRC) is already hard at work gearing up for next school year, continuing to build and strengthen vital connections with our community partners for the upcoming Back to School Bash. Mark your calendars for August 8, 2026, at Woodland High School (WHS)! Thanks to the incredible generosity and collaboration of our local organizations and businesses, this event will ensure our students and families have the resources, supplies, and support they need to kick off the new school year with confidence. We are deeply grateful for a community that consistently shows up to invest in our students' success!
Health
School Nurse Day was Wednesday, May 6, 2026. Our mighty team of four nurses has done an absolutely incredible job this year with student health and wellness across our district. Managing all of the daily office visits with thousands of phone calls and interactions with families, they have maintained meticulous documentation while providing practical, compassionate care. From the daily, high-stakes management of students with diabetes to navigating complex protocols for those with rare disabilities, this small but mighty team has ensured that our most vulnerable students are safe, supported, and ready to learn. We are profoundly grateful for their dedication, expertise, and tireless commitment to our schools!
Highly Capable Program
Our Highly Capable (Hi-Cap) identification team did a remarkably thorough job this year, carefully reviewing data to ensure every eligible student was identified for the program. As always, our school offices stepped up to handle the logistics of written communication with families. Looking ahead, our team will meet soon to review and consider any appeals regarding this year's identifications. All determinations regarding appeals will be considered holistically and families will be officially notified by May 29, 2026.
Multilingual Education Program
Our Multilingual Learner (ML) Department came together for a focused day of professional planning and alignment on Friday, May 15, 2026. The day began with a collaborative check-in followed by secondary level forecasting to smooth the transitions for our multilingual students moving from 4th to 5th grade and 8th to 9th grade. A significant portion of our time was dedicated to updating and tracking student progress, with a specific emphasis on evaluating shifted and transitioned students as well as identifying custom action plans to support our students of concern. The team also engaged in thorough operational preparation for the upcoming MLL Summer School, detailing necessary instructional supply orders, refining student invitation lists, and building an informational presentation for the summer school staff. Finally, the afternoon concluded with horizontal program planning, mapping logistics for next school year's Latino Family Night, and engaging in individual professional development centered on collaborating around the WIDA English Language Development Standards Framework.
