Policy 1220
WSSDA has updated this policy to provide additional detail to the responsibilities of the Legislative Representative and to change the title of the "Legislative Assembly" to the "General Assembly."
Policy 1400
The WSSDA annual conference for school board members is held yearly on dates that include the third Thursday of November. Rather than shifting the date and creating a special meeting on the second Thursday of November each year, it is recommended that the board adopt a minor revision to policy 1400. This change will make permanent meetings on the second Thursday of November while maintaining the third Thursday of December as the regular business meeting.
Policy 1610
WSSDA has updated this policy to reflect the revised statutory language, including SB 6326 – Municipal Conflicts of Interest – Various Provisions (2020). This legislation amended threshold amounts regarding certain exceptions to the rule on conflicts of interest. Additionally, WSSDA has issued a new and revised version of its Avoiding Conflicts of Interest booklet, which is available on our website. We recommend your board review the updated information.
Policy 2402
Policy 2402 is an amalgamation of several WSSDA recommended policies and procedures. There are three factors driving recommendations for adjustment to this policy. 1) OSPI has developed or is developing common assessments that will determine competency for granting credit. 2) There are some legal requirements for how we will address granting credits for students coming from institutional environments. 3) OSPI has added the option of granting mastery-based credit for financial literacy. This policy reflects all recommended WSSDA changes.
