REPORTS TO THE BOARD

Financial and Enrollment Report

To: Michael Green, Superintendent

From: Stacy Brown, Director of Business Services

Date: September 18, 2022

Subject: August Financial/September Enrollment Report

I am currently working on negotiations, hiring staff, September payroll, starting the year-end close-out, and the financial statements for the year ending 8/31/22.  Because there are so many adjustments to the August statements as a part of the year-end reconciliations, you will not see the August reports at this time.

Enrollment

The first enrollment document (page 1) is a summary by headcount for September.  I also included a comparison to the previous June.  I rolled the June counts to the next grade level for a better comparison of each grade level total from last year and compared to this year. The counts by grade level include the Yale, LRA, and TEAM High numbers (including totals for the district).  The section below shows the total June headcount for those buildings compared with the current headcount.  Overall, we are now up 60 students from last June.  The alternative programs are down 58 students. We have had many students return to the district from the alternative programs and many students return to their home districts.

The second enrollment document (page 2) shows a comparison of average FTE compared to budgeted FTE.  Funding is based on FTE (not headcount) so this is an important document.  Funding is also based on our average annual FTE (which only includes September at this time).  The numbers reported in September include those students enrolled as of the count date (the 4th school day of September which was 9/8/22).  For September, we are 43.80 FTE above budget. I will be running estimates each month to determine how the enrollment affects our revenues.  You will also see the Special Education enrollment numbers and how they compare to the budget.  The Special Education enrollment average is figured from October through May. The numbers you see here are from September and won’t be included in the average, but I included them for your information. The September counts for Special Education are historically quite low as it takes some time to identify and evaluate new students when the year starts. I will continue to keep you apprised each month and will let you know how this affects the district projections starting with data in October.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
