RE: Facilities Report

I am excited to be taking over the responsibility for Woodland Public Schools' Facilities, though I am humbled to try to fill Scott Landrigan's shoes.  He will be missed.

With my assuming the position as facilities director there is some reorganization within the department that is occurring to maximize our effectiveness and efficiency.   I will continue to perform much of the HVAC maintenance and we are adding an Assistant Facilities Director, Damon Yeo, to our team.   Damon will support me in the management of the department with a primary focus on managing and supervising our custodial team.   Damon is a skilled tradesman and professional carpenter.  He is a familiar face to Woodland Public Schools, a graduate of Woodland High School, a parent of WHS Graduates, and a former coach of our State Champion Beavers Fastpitch team.   We are excited to have him join our team!

I have picked up on some of the ongoing facilities projects:

  • Entry Cameras - Installation of cameras and office monitors is complete at Yale. We are currently working on planning the installation of WHS entry camera systems.
  • Office Security - Installation of an improved office security system is currently underway at WHS, WMS, NFES and CES. This upgrade includes, multiple enable points for lockdown, panic, and momentary release controls for evacuations. Estimate completion is late fall 2022.
  • Yale HVAC System – Completed the new installation of a Mitsubishi Heat Pump system to replace our 70-year-old, diesel fuel-fired steam boiler. This will reduce our heating expenses and reduce the environmental impact of burning diesel fuel oil.
  • 5th Street Bus and Road Improvements – Currently working with Gibb & Olson for engineering and preparation for submitting to the City of Woodland for permitting. The City is requiring an infiltration investigation test to be done for drainage, Gibb and Olson is working on estimates for this testing.
  • Air Purification Systems – Completed the air purification system installation at NFES. We are currently installing the purification systems at WHS and expect them to be completed in October.
  • In August we closed 181 work orders, with 42 in progress. Reviewed utility expenses for August. All utility costs came within historical averages.
