Winter student data has been collected and analyzed. Teachers will meet with Malinda this week to look at student growth goals, determine areas needing support and make plans to ensure the goals can be achieved by May.
All Yale students will be screened this week for the highly capable program. Screening will indicate which students should receive the full CoGAT assessment to determine eligibility into the program for the 2020/2021 school year. Eligible students will join North Fork on a monthly basis for ½ day to participate in their Highly Capable program.
We have an additional team member for the remainder of the year! Kristen Hescock is a student teacher with LeAnne Tevlin in 3rd/4th grade. We are so thankful for Kristen’s extra set of hands and excited to welcome her to the Yale community.
The annual PTO fundraiser was a big success. Students voted to have Mrs. Cortez “Kiss the Pig” I was thankful to not win that award this year! Here is a picture!
Communication is a large key to success in any organization. It has been my goal to be more deliberate in communicating with our staff and community. This month we began sending out a monthly newsletter to families as well as a weekly Monday Memo for staff. The feedback has been positive and I look forward to continuing to find ways to communicate.
Yale students will have the opportunity to join North Fork for a few events this year! We are so thankful for our partnership with North Fork and their open arms for supporting Yale students and staff. This week students will travel to North Fork to be a part of their Career Fair. Parents were also invited to share their careers with students from both schools. Yale will also participate in One School One Book this Spring. Students will all read the same book, Chocolate Touch by Patrick Skeen Catling. Each morning they will have the opportunity to answer comprehension questions to earn rewards toward a whole school reward and will be invited to the culminating evening event at North Fork on April 30th.
