Re: May Review
Here is an overview of the key activities we worked on in relation to teaching and learning this month.
Monday’s: We had only a couple of Monday’s this month and we used those for department collaboration and coordinating the big move to the new school. We did have a very nice training on Friday, May 1st led by Shari Conditt and Jason Cowley focused on the power of Google applications and other websites. It was excellent.
Other information: Dan and I spent quite a bit of time this month with staff working on year end evaluations. This always is a good time to reflect on good teaching practices and how to improve our skills. Our annual Art Festival was very well attended and had great examples of student art work on display. I also hope you had a chance to visit the annual plant sale at the beginning of the month. We also finished up our “online” version of state testing for our sophomores and juniors. The testing generally went quite well and Steve Rippl and his crew are to be commended for their efforts to make this all happen.
EOC: Although the actual exam occurred on June 2-4, we spent considerable amounts of time preparing our students for the state math and Biology End of Course exams.
And finally: We are all feeling excited, yet sad to say good bye to WHS at 757 Park street. It has been an enjoyable last year here and we are feeling those emotions now as the packing and organization is becoming quite real. We also plan to take a final picture with our seniors and staff in front of the “old” high school on Thursday, June 4th at 11:30 a.m. Bell Studio will be printing up a picture for all of our seniors to have as a keepsake. You probably won’t see this prior to that picture, but if you do, you are more than welcome to join us!
