REPORTS TO THE BOARD

Athletic Director Report

May 7, 2012

 

1.        Spring Sports

a.        Baseball

           i.      JV 5-4 league, 8-6 overall, Varsity 3-6  league, 6-10 overall

           ii.      As of today (5/2), still in the hunt for a playoff berth.

           iii.      District Tournament is May 8-12.

b.        Fastpitch

           i.      JV 4-2 league, 6-7 overall, Varsity 6-0 league, 12-2 overall

           ii.      District Tournament is May 17-18 at Centralia.

c.        Girls' Golf

           i.      Team doing well... 4-2 league, 6-2 overall

           ii.      Tia Tsugawa finished #1 overall with a round of 84 at the Royal Oaks Challenge (included 2A, 3A and 4A girls).

           iii.      District match is at Three Rivers Golf Course May 14-15.

d.        Boys' Soccer

           i.      JV 1-10 league, 1-13 overall, Varsity 0-11 league, 1-14 overall

           ii.      Both teams (relatively young) continue to work hard , stay positive and improve.

e.        Track

           i.      Sub districts at Washougal on May 11.

           ii.      District meet is at Centralia on May 18.

           iii.      Numerous individual and relay teams rank in top one or two in our district.

2.        Summer

a.        Head coach planning meeting on May 7 to determine summer workout opportunities for our athletes and to coordinate summer schedules between programs.

3.        Middle School Track

a.        7th and 8th grade both doing well

b.        Had first home meet of the season on April 30 - went very well. High school track team ran most of the meet.

4.        Current News...

a.        W Club A.O.Y. Banquet on Tuesday, May 29 - 6:30pm in the commons

           i.      We will be honoring multiple sport athletes, athletes who were recognized for all-league, and selecting a femail and male athlete of the year.

b.        W Club will be participating in a "Miracle League" day June 2. We are trying to assemble a group of 50 WHS students for this event.

c.        The basketball program is bringing a shooting specialist in from Wisconsin on July 10. Sixty boy and girl basketball players in grades 5-12 will be attending.
