RE: Yale Elementary Board Report

School Improvement Plan

Our current efforts to elevate student achievement are centered on continual progress monitoring in both reading and math. By utilizing real-time data tracking, our teachers are able to tailor instruction to meet the specific needs of every learner, ensuring that no student falls through the cracks.

The results of this rigorous approach are reflected in our recent mid-year data, which is nothing short of excellent:

  • 85% of our students are currently demonstrating better than average growth when compared to national benchmarks.
  • This data confirms that our targeted interventions and data-driven classroom strategies are effectively closing gaps and accelerating learning across all grade levels.

Recognition

We would like to shine a spotlight on the incredible contributions of one of our parent volunteers, Melanie Derbes. Melanie’s dedication to our school community is truly transformative. She generously donates hours of her personal time and provides vital resources to maintain and expand our school garden.

On any given afternoon, Melanie and her son, Nolan, can be found working side-by-side after school to beautify the space. Their hard work has turned the garden into a vibrant outdoor classroom and a point of pride for our campus. We are deeply grateful for their commitment to making our school a more beautiful place to learn.

Upcoming Events

We have several exciting activities on the horizon that celebrate our students and connect them with the local community:

  • Burgerville "Caught Doing the Right Thing" Lunch with the Principal: A monthly celebration for students who have earned multiple "Cougar Tickets" for demonstrating exceptional character and positive behavior.
  • Smokey Bear Visit: Our Kindergarten and 1st-grade classrooms will receive a special visit to learn about forest safety and fire prevention.
  • Monthly Visit from Officer Cuneta: A student favorite! Officer Cuneta will be joining us in the lunchroom and out at recess to build positive relationships with our students.
