Woodland Trust Fund Pathways Scholarship

Career Pathways Scholarship Fund

The Woodland Trust Fund Scholarship, currently known as the Woodland Public Schools Career Pathways Scholarship Fund, is an annual scholarship program providing between $1,000 and $2,500 in scholarships to graduating seniors seeking further education after graduation, including universities, community colleges, vocational schools, and trade schools.

Don Fluke, a former Woodland Public Schools superintendent, established the Woodland High School Scholarship Trust Fund in 1986 to provide students not receiving substantial scholarships from other sources with an avenue to receive assistance to further their education.

The amount provided by scholarships has varied from year to year.   We currently have about $44,000 in the trust fund for scholarships. $3,000 of that has been committed and outstanding over the last two years.

Executive Director Brown is comfortable spending up to $7,000-$10,000 on scholarships this year if someone can take the lead in raising funds over the next year. In the last year, it has earned approximately $1,900 in interest, but there have not been any large deposits to speak of, only the $245 monthly deposit from employee payroll deductions.
There are three applicants for the scholarship. The board will discuss how to structure Trust-Fund scholarships this year.
