Re:  TEAM Board Report

1) School Improvement Plan

As is true at WHS, May at TEAM is spent shepherding kids towards successfully completing their courses for the year. TEAM’s four-year graduation rate for the 22-23 school year was reported at 66.2%. This actually represents an 8-point increase compared to pre-COVID levels and is only 2.5% below the state average for ALL schools. This is phenomenal, especially given that TEAM is a competency-based program. In fact, TEAM’s steadily increasing graduation rate will actually HURT TEAM funding a little bit for the 25-26 school year. I’ll describe that in the next section.

2)  Recognition

Alternative programs like TEAM often serve a disproportionately large number of students who have not been highly successful in more traditional, brick-and-mortar programs. As a result, normal school metrics like graduation rates are almost always lower for alternative programs than for other mainline programs.

As a result of this, TEAM (along with virtually all alternative programs in the state and some mainstream schools) was identified for additional support and scrutiny - until now. Due to the year-long hard work of Jillian, Liz V., and others, TEAM's graduation rate has steadily increased yearly. This spring, TEAM will be exited from “tier three” support as a result. This is an INCREDIBLE achievement and a testament to the dedication of TEAM staff. Ironically, it will also result in slightly reduced funding for TEAM for the 25-26 school year. Go figure.

3) Upcoming Events

TEAM commencement is Wednesday, May 5. You are welcome and encouraged to attend if you’re able.
