Upcoming Events: TOLO

Tuesday, January 17th, kicked off WHS’s festivities for the upcoming dance, TOLO. Students at WHS participated in dress-up days, which consisted of PJ Day, Twin Day, Bring a Tea/Coffee Cup to School Day, and Color Wars. The dance is themed Through the Looking Glass and will be on Saturday, January 21st.

Upcoming Events: Finals

For the first time in three years, WHS students will participate in a full finals schedule starting Tuesday, January 22nd. Students will go to two designated periods for 2-hours each to complete their finals and will additionally complete two 1-hour blocks with other class periods. The classes will be rotated throughout the week for students to complete finals in all six class periods.

Moving ASB Elections

WHS ASB decided to move ASB Elections up by one month. Instead of elections being held during May, ASB opted to hold elections during the month of April. This decision was held due to most ASB Officers being Seniors and wanting to train new ASB Officers before graduation starts. Previously when the original positions were filled, the new officers did not have an opportunity to talk to past members since most positions were held by Seniors. The officers this year felt it was imperative that new members of ASB were trained in their positions before leaving.

Furthermore, this new change in the ASB Constitution and Policy means that the new ASB School Board Representative will attend meetings with me before I pass my position to the new officer. I hope to bring the new School Board Representative to one study session and one regular meeting, along with training them in how to write reports. Additionally, with the new changes to the constitution, the ASB School Board Representative will serve at their elected position for a 2-year term (only the ASB School Board Representative and the ASB Treasurer are elected for 2-terms).

Highlighting Students Outside of School Activities

WHS ASB hopes to highlight student achievements outside of School Oriented Activities (along with the already highlighted achievements happening within the school organizations). ASB hopes to achieve this through a Google Form students can fill out at any time, which will be accessible through Instagram, Bulletin, and QR codes put up throughout the school. Any student at the High School will have the opportunity to nominate any other student or themselves.
