RE: Athletics Report

Woodland Middle School

Track and Field

  1. The first day of practice was March 28.

Woodland High School

This has honestly been the wettest spring I can remember. We are going to end up with games almost every day in fastpitch and baseball if the weather improves. We also have the challenge of transportation (more other districts than ours) and a shortage of officials we are dealing with. I’ve canceled events for rain, officials, transportation – and even snow this spring! Hoping things improve.

Baseball

  1. Varsity record – 0-6 league, 1-9 overall
    1. The team has struggled early on but now hasn’t played in a few weeks. Kids are working hard and continue to compete.
  2. JV record – 2-5 league, 2-7 overall

Fastpitch

  1. Varsity record – 1-5 league, 3-6 overall
    1. Definitely a slow start for our girls but they should be in the mix for a playoff spot.
  2. JV record – 2-5 league, 2-6 overall

Track and Field

  1. We have a solid turnout of over 70 athletes
    1. Joran Lamoreaux has re-broken his own school record in the 3200
    2. Joran missed the school record in the mile by 1/10th of a second at our last meet (in stormy weather) – so that record is going down this season
    3. Our team is young but working so hard! All kinds of PRs at every meet and our coaches are doing a fantastic job of developing our young talent

Boys Soccer

  1. In an extremely tough soccer league (well… all sports are actually tough in our league), our soccer team is very competitive and in the mix for a playoff spot
  2. Varsity record – 5-5 league, 6-5 overall
    1. A huge win at Hockinson this past week in a mud bowl puts them in a great position for post-season
  3. JV record – 2-4 league, 2-5 overall

Girls Golf

  1. Our team is extremely competitive and should be in the running for a top place in both league and state

Other

  1. Our Trap team hosted the Beaver Open on April 23rd. Our team is doing extremely well and should score really well at state and nationals! Here is a great article about them from Eric Jacobsen: https://www.woodlandschools.org/page/7063?cat=wsd
  2. Our Equestrian team had districts last weekend but no results are available yet.
