There are nine (9) Educational Service Districts in the state of Washington. They exist to support school districts within each region.
Our local ESD, ESD 112, serves districts in Clark, Cowlitz, Klickitat, Pacific, Skamania, and Wahkiakum Counties. They offer some services that are a part of their state function, such as regional fiscal support. They also operate "enterprise" services to support districts. These services are generally more cost-effective options than if we were to operate the services locally or contract for them commercially. The agreements are governed by the "Interlocal Cooperation Act"
Annually we review these agreements to be sure we are receiving appropriate value from each. Each year the board must approve interlocal agreements to continue to support the programs that are being operated by the ESD. There are eleven (11) agreements for your consideration.
