HOSA club is actively working on all of our competitive events for state competition in April. We participated in "Scare Hunger" which collects food on Halloween. We had 14 students participate in the rain. It was fun and we collected a pickup truck full of food for our local pantry.
SkillsUSA - Five officers and Mrs. Miller participated in Leadership training at Cispus on November 1st through the 3rd. Students took part in activities they can bring back to their clubs as well as team building opportunities such as a ropes course and an escape room based on SkillsUSA clues. Nansi Valenzuela, a State Officer, helped to run several of the sessions. Culinary students once again provided the setup, service and clean up for Empty Bowls on November 9th. They helped to raise $5,381 for our local Action Center.
In an effort to promote Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO’s) throughout our school, a joint activity was organized for November. All CTSO’s and their advisors attended a Winterhawks game on Saturday, November 10th. This was our largest group ever with 64 people in attendance. The students said they had a great time and the Winterhawks won!
FFA and Horticulture - FFA Officers attended the State Evergreen Tour at Prairie High School in September, interacting with State Officers while attending leadership workshops. Woodland HS Floral placed 2nd overall in the Portland Floral Chopped Invitational October 5.
Last Year’s State Champion FFA team placed 8th in Floriculture at Nationals led by Advisor Mary Ellen Vetter.
Metal Shop/Welding/Automotive - The welding students have been designing their own projects with the plasma table and CAD programs.
Auto students have been building engines and learning about tires and suspension.
