RE: Monthly Report Woodland Intermediate School

i-Ready

This fall, our school implemented a new program called i-Ready Diagnostic & Instruction, an innovative adaptive assessment and engaging personalized instruction program for reading and math.  i-Ready will help our teachers and intervention teams  assess the needs of our students while monitoring their progress throughout the school year. Teacher teams have met, discussed, and planned instruction and interventions as a result of analyzing the first round of learning data.

Focus on Learning

The first few late start Mondays in September have been devoted to setting grade level team norms, roles, and agreements for grade level collaboration.  On October 3rd, all grade levels started their first of many Collaborative Inquiry (CI) work sessions, aka Professional Learning Community (PLC).  Each grade establishes a laser-like focus on student learning and student learning results.  On October 3rd, each grade level analyzed their first set of student learning data and continued their dialogue and analysis on October 16th to set their first team SMART goal for student learning.

Increasing Parent Communication and Participation

Our school’s very own parent app is coming soon. WIS and WPS will launch this parent communication tool in a couple of weeks. To learn more go to http:///www.sanghapp.com

WIS Open House and Book Fair

On October 6, 2016, we opened our doors to students and families for a night of visiting classrooms, learning about school programs,  purchasing books at the book fair, and community building.  The event was well-attended.
