Re: WMS October 2016 Board Report
The following topics are explained in more detail below:
- WMS Professional Development Day 5
- Health Curriculum update
- Fall Conferences
WMS Professional Development Day 5
WMS had Day 5 of Professional Development on October 11, 2016. We worked in departments and grade level teams around our District Vision and input data regarding student placement in extension support classes. Staff and administration continued work on PBIS and upcoming school events. We also had ESD 112 here to help train us on how to set up and manage “Skyward Online Scheduling” and we had a trainer from “iReady” teach us how to work with our new assessment tool. It was a full day but very profitable and we are grateful for the opportunity to work together as a certified staff.
Health Curriculum Update
In the 2015-16 school year, the WMS PE & Health Department piloted Human Growth and Development and HIV video curriculum in conjunction with the adopted KNOW curriculum. We are in the process of submitting a curriculum adoption proposal for the videos piloted last year.
Fall Conferences
Our goal is to meet with 100% of WMS students/families during Fall Conference Week November 7-9, 2016! We have communicated via WMS Social Media, Skyward mass email and WMS Newsletters and Daily Bulletin about conference week and how Monday will be an 8:45 am start time.
At WMS, families are able to use Skyward to schedule. We did this last year and it was a huge success. Beginning Monday, October 17th, families will be able to schedule their own conference(s) for their child(ren) at a time that is convenient for their family!
