WPS Report

Focus on Learning
During the week of November 3 - November 7, 2014, each teacher spent about 45 minutes each with school leadership to discuss student learning, examine student learning data, and identify student learning goals.

On November 4th and 5th, teachers came together after school to engage in learning around effective standards-based grading and assessment practices and to learn ways to track progress of student learning mastery using the district student information system, SkyWard.

Teachers are continuing to meet every “Late Start Monday “ to  collaboratively analyze student learning and to make next step instructional decisions that further guarantee student learning.

Each grade level continues to set student learning growth goals (SMART goals) for student learning in math.  Each of these SMART goals are measured by common formative assessments.

During the last week of October, teachers successfully met with each of their student families to discuss student learning progress.

Upcoming events
We look forward to our annual Veterans Day assembly on November 10th at 10:00. This is a well-attended event that is open to the community.

On November 24, 2014 WIS and WPS is collaborating together to offer a Math Night for parents and students.  The Math night is designed to inform parents of the instructional shifts in Math and further support parents as they work with their students at home through the mathematical thinking needed for students to demonstrate mastery of the new Washington Learning Standards.
