Monthly Update
May 2014
The month of May has been a sprint from start to finish. As we approach the end of the school year each day seems to be more hectic than the one before.
MSP testing dominated the month of May. This year WIS administered over 1,400 MSP tests. Of those approximately one-third were conducted paper/pencil and two-thirds were conducted online. I will refrain from going into detail of the failures of our state and the testing agency as they were shared with you orally during the first May board meeting. Every staff member in our building had a responsibility associated with MSP testing. I am very proud of our staff and students. Everyone gave their best effort.
Most of our May Mondays were spent focusing on student placement. Student placements are always an important event during the end of the year. Aligning teaching styles with learning styles while maintaining balance and equity within each classroom is never an easy task. The WIS staff worked diligently to make this a reality. Our 6th grade team met with staff from WMS to share information about each student. A few staff members and I teamed with WPS administration and the 3rd grade team to place and learn about 3rd grade students attending WIS next year.
