Athletic Director Report

February 11, 2013

1.        HS Girls’ Basketball

a.        Varsity finished 2^nd in league (16-2), and 18-2 overall.

                                                               i.      Their first game in the district tournament is Friday night at RA Long – 6:30pm.

b.        JV finished 15-5 overall.

2.        HS Boys’ Basketball

a.        Varsity finished 4^th in league (11-7), and 12-8 overall.

b.        They won a playoff game vs. Rochester (52-41) to qualify for the district tournament.

c.        They will be playing in their first district tournament in 7 years this Thursday vs. Tenino at WF West – 8pm.

d.        JV finished 14-6 overall.

e.        C team finished 8-8 overall.

3.        HS Boys’ Wrestling

a.        9 wrestlers (8 wrestlers, 1 alternate) qualified for regionals this Saturday at Castle Rock.

4.        WMS Boys’ Basketball

a.        8^th grade boys(2-2 overall record)

b.        7^th grade boys (3-1 overall record)

c.        Blended boys (3-1 overall record)

5.        Current news…

a.        Winter sports are winding down… spring sports begin February 25. We are projecting big turnout numbers in all 5 sports we offer.

b.        Beaver Boosters donated gift cards to the W club to use for ½ time entertainment/contests. We had sumo races at last home game (as a way to bring more students to games) – it was a big hit with the student section.

c.        We are working with the Beaver boosters to offer customizable spirit gear online, to make Beaver gear more accessible for purchase. There is now a link to the online store on our school athletic page.

d.        Preparations beginning for 2^nd annual Athlete of the Year Banquet in May. W club is planning on making an Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony part of the evening.

e.        Wall of Tribute revived. Will induct new candidate at first home football game next fall. Nomination forms now available online for community members.
