Re:      October Review

Here is an overview of the key activities we worked on in relation to teaching and learning this month.

Monday's: We had four Monday's this month for staff development activities.  We spent two in department collaboration and one with Navigation 101 training and one was connected to our School Improvement Planning (SIP) activities.  I was very pleased that one of our department collaboration days was used to analyze a colleagues assessment and how they evaluated student work.  We are designating 3 Monday's this year to focus on really analyzing student work and how we assessed it.

Other information:  Fall conferences were very not well attended this year.  We are not sure why we had fewer parents this year, but some staff speculated that it was because the information in Skyward is so comprehensive.   Also, our first edition of the new school newspaper came out this month.  The paper is an excellent representation of our student's abilities to write and put together a professional looking newspaper.  Ms. Joan Huston is our advisor and I applaud her efforts.  I hope you had an opportunity to see an edition as it was very impressive.  I also wanted to give a shout out to Mr. Vetter and Mrs. Morgan for all of their work in organizing "Make a Difference" day.  We had about 70 students of all ages participating on Saturday, October 27th to help make Woodland a better place to live and work.

All is all it was a good productive month at Woodland High School.
