RE: Woodland Middle School Board Report

As we wrap up another successful school year at Woodland Middle School, we’re proud to share several highlights that reflect the incredible spirit, hard work, and community support that define our school.

Earlier this week, we also welcomed incoming 5th graders for a special 4th Grade Visit, where students toured the campus, participated in activities, and got to know what middle school is all about. The visit was led by our outstanding leadership students and organized by Ms. Sarah Netland and Mr. Jeff Flanagan, who did a phenomenal job creating a welcoming, engaging experience for our future Trojans. It was a celebration of mentorship, leadership, and school pride.

We recently hosted our Trojan Trek: 4th Grade Parent Night on June 5th and it was a super well attended event! Families packed the halls to tour the campus, meet staff, and get excited about the transition to middle school. This event continues to grow each year and plays a vital role in building early connections between families and our school community.

We’re also preparing for a meaningful sendoff for our 8th graders with a Graduation Assembly on June 12th, where we’ll recognize their growth, accomplishments, and readiness to take on high school.

Looking ahead, Field Day is scheduled for June 13th. It promises to be a fun and engaging way for our students to celebrate the end of the year through teamwork, friendly competition, and school spirit.

On the academic side, SBA testing was a smooth success, and we are optimistic about the growth we’ll see as a result of the hard work our students and teachers have put in. This time of year truly showcases the dedication of our staff and the resilience of our learners.

A special thank you goes to Ms. Rinehart, who is spearheading our exciting new event: the Woodland Way—Hometown Hustle, which will take place during Planter’s Day weekend. This event expands on the success of our Annual Woodland Way 5K and reflects our commitment to wellness, community, and tradition. We are grateful for her leadership in creating such a positive community experience.

In our final days, we’ll be closing out with student awards, yearbook celebrations, and a continued focus on learning, ensuring students stay engaged all the way to the finish line. It’s a busy, joyful time as we head into a well-deserved summer break.

As we close the year, we’re grateful for the partnership of our families, staff, and the broader Woodland community. Together, we continue to live out the Woodland Way, grounded in care, commitment, and community. #WinningInTheWoods
