WORKSHOP

District and School Improvement Plans

Superintendent Green started by providing an overview of the work session and asking the school board directors to ask questions and provide any direction or improvements to these draft improvement plans. Assistant Superintendent Asha Riley presented the District’s adopted goals, and the district-wide action plan.  The board then broke into two groups and rotated between the following three groups: elementary, middle school / Lewis River Academy, and high school / TEAM, where administrators, staff, and students discussed their improvement plans for each school. The board then reconvened as a group to discuss highlights. The improvement plans will be presented at the next regular board meeting for adoption.

PUBLIC COMMENT ON WORK SESSION TOPIC

Darcy Billingsley inquired about the absenteeism at the middle school. 

DISCUSSION ITEMS

Superintendent Search Process

Community member and previous school board director Jim Bays provided a comment that was read aloud by Director Wray. His comment was to encourage the directors in their search for a new superintendent and recommendation to use a consultant.

The board decided to release a Request for Proposal (RFP) with a deadline of November 6th, and any proposals will be reviewed and discussed at the November 9th board meeting.
