Cascadia Tech Satelite Programs:
As you know, this year, we launched a new partnership with Cascadia Tech by hosting a satellite program here in Woodland. This year, students from the KWRL districts have had the opportunity to participate in the Career in Education program hosted in Portable 12 at Columbia Elementary School. Due to the successful implementation of the satellite program, we are exploring how to offer another program via this satellite model.
Recently, the director of Cascadia Tech visited our shop to see the space and assess its potential to host an electrical trades-focused construction program. We know from survey responses that Woodland High School students show a high level of interest in both electrical and linemen careers. If there is similar interest in surrounding districts, we could potentially add this course for WHS students next year. We are confident both the shop space and the WHS schedule can accommodate this program while we maintain our current welding program.
Cascadia is working to get frameworks approved and assess interest from students in the KWRL districts. They will confirm if we can proceed next year once they have all these details settled.
