RE: North Fork Elementary Board Report

1) School Improvement Plan 

North Fork has made several changes in an effort to achieve our School Improvement Goals. Our teachers are carefully tracking student progress and acting quickly on the results during core instruction in both reading and math. During our bi-weekly data review meetings we are noticing students progress monitoring data is improving quickly.

Teachers are also working hard to involve students in their own learning. They are having goal-setting conversations, providing feedback with data, and celebrating student growth. This is time consuming work that will motivate students to achieve at a high level.

2)  Recognition 

• Our Music teacher, Alex Wing has developed a Winter Concert that highlights all of the music instruction students have been receiving. From drums to xylophones students will be showing off their new musical skills during the Winter Concert. It was a great success! Attendance reached capacity in the gym. 
• Our CKLA curriculum in 4th grade has a unit on Empires in the Middle Ages where the students explore the medieval history of Europe and the Middle East. The 4th-grade teachers have scheduled a Medival Fair Day that will highlight all students have learned. The fair was a highlight for students and teachers alike.
