In September handbooks were distributed to all Woodland Public School employees. The handbook is also available online on our employee page.
I oversaw a benefits fair which was held for our employees on September 9, from 3:30 to 5:30 in the commons at Woodland High School. At the fair over 20 vendors who either offer medical benefits or give discounts to school employees attended and were available to answer questions. There was a good turnout of employees and vendors gave door prizes to some lucky attendees.
I continue to interview substitutes and in September I have close to 20 interviews set up. If an applicant moves forward in the process after the interview, references are sent out. If references clear they are then directed to ESD 112 for fingerprints. Depending on the backlog of prints, it can take a few weeks for the prints to clear. Once cleared they are processed and released to be a substitute in our schools.
I will be attending a job fair in the afternoon on September 22, 2016, hosted by Goodwill at Woodland High School. Shannon Barnett and Scott Landrigan will be attending with me as we focus on finding substitutes for KWRL and our custodial staff.
Currently, I am working with administrative staff to update our evaluations for classified employees and creating tools, like a calendar and tracking spreadsheet, that will help them track the due dates of evaluations. This can be especially helpful with our newly hired classified staff which need two evaluations in the first 90 days.
