Presented for first reading by the board are six policies recommended for revision. In each case revisions are built from current policy based on recommendations from WSSDA in their model policies.
Policy 3141 Nonresident Students
Substantive changes: alignment of standards for accepting or rejecting an application so as to align with state law, Addition of substantial changes to the children of employees section.
Policy 5202 Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Mandated Drug and Alcohol Testing Program
This policy applies to our bus drivers. Minor changes based on changes to federal law. Most substantive change is in bullet 6.
Policy 5222 Job Sharing Staff Members
Only substatantive change to the policy inclulde a new required plan in bullet B.
Policy 5231 Length of Work Day
Substantive Changes: addition of Adminstrators as a category, inclusion of non teaching certificated staff, clarification of professional responsibilities of educators.
Polciy 5251 Conflicts of Interest
The recommendations for revisions to this policy are largely language clarification and addition of a "de minimus" exception.
Polciy 5253 Maintaining Professional Staff/Student Boundaries
The recommendations for revisions to this policy are largely language clarification and brodening of definitions to be more inclusive of who the policy applies to. There are no substantive changes to this policy.
