Woodland Intermediate School Report

Woodland Intermediate School
Monthly Update
November/December, 2012

November and December Monday morning professional development focused on standards based report cards, our School-wide Plan, and standards based common math assessment.  We are in the process of planning full day professional development for staff on the topic of differentiated instruction.

The Woodland Intermediate School Winter concert was held on the evening of December 18th. It featured our 1st year band, 2nd year band, and Holiday kids chorus. Our band and chorus programs are doing great. They continue to grow and improve in their development.

The WIS gym was full to capacity during the concert. I stopped counting guests at 500. With another 100 band and chorus students it was a full house. I praised this group for being the largest we have ever had in the gym for an evening activity and for supporting our students with such enthusiasm.

Our annual Book Exchange took place on the evening of December 3rd. It was also well attended. We had 198 guests in attendance. Students left with 716 new books and stomachs full of ice cream. Parents left with information about our reading program as well as how they can support their child's reading development at home.
