RE:                 WMS Summary of Teaching and Learning - March

March has come and gone at Woodland Middle School!

The WMS staff participated in department meetings and school improvement planning during March Mondays. To learn more about the on-line test format, follow the following link: www.watesting.com/online.

Woodland Middle School also spent the month of March transitioning students.  WMS hosted their second round of student-led conferences during March.  The turnout was excellent and the focus was Navigations and forecasting for next year.  Kelly Sloniker spent time at WIS educating the staff and students on middle school courses and the forecasting process.  Additionally, WMS hosted a parent night for incoming 7th graders on March 14.  This event was well attended by parents and students.  An overview of curriculum, athletics/activities, and middle school expectations were reviewed.  Kelly Sloniker has done a great job coordinating these activities.  Later, in May we will send 7th grade staff to meet with 6th grade teachers to roll up students for next year.  Through this process we identify students who may have trouble with the transition and invite them to summer transition groups un August so they are better prepared for middle school.

April brings scheduling and MSP readiness for WMS.  While it seems like things should be winding down, this time of year is perhaps the craziest.
