EXECUTIVE SESSION
President, Jim Bays, recessed the meeting into executive session at 6:00 pm for a personnel hearing. President, Jim Bays, reconvened the meeting into regular session at 7:04pm.

ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS
Janice Watts asked Dan Uhlenkott about his prediction that TEAM High's scores would be around 70%, due to absenteeism and apathy. He said that the students, who need to be prepared the most, are not showing up. Jim Avino is doing everything he can, but he hasn't gotten the buy-in from the students that he has in the past. Bill Woodard asked Cari Thomson if she was seeing any bullying issues at the Middle School. She said that the Healthy Youth Survey (HYS) data shows that bullying is down. There will be a HYS report in April. Jim Bays asked if Shari Conditt was compensated for her work with the National Board Certified Teacher candidates. Michael Green said that the District paid for a substitute for her. Steve Madsen, who is the lead for Law Week, told John Shoup that he would like to know
dates that would work for WHS students to work on Law Week in May. He will meet with his board on March 22nd and wanted to give them the dates, so the scheduling will go smoothly. Jim Bays said that he likes the idea of the annual/individual season athletic passes that Paul Huddleston said he was researching in his report.
STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE REPORT
Mia Patterson reported that the HSPE testing will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, this week. Freshmen can't take the test, but in the past they had the option. Seniors, who did not finish their projects, will do their presentations this week. Local scholarships are now online. Jim Bays asked Mia about Challenge Day follow-up. She said she knew that Devon Fliss had sent a questionnaire out to students, but she did not know the results of that. John Shoup said that there were posters and signs to remind students of the work they did on Challenge Day. He said there will be activities coming up for a "Be the Change" week.
SUPERINTENDENT REPORT
Mr. Green reported that State legislators will meet on March 17th to review budget forecast updates. Experts are saying that the deficit is growing and the gap in educational funding is growing. This presents problems for our budget. The District's enrollment grew last month and financially, we should be in a position to roll over money into the general fund for next year. But decisions by the legislators could affect next year's budget. If the legislators eliminate the retire/rehire practice, it could reduce Chuck Anderson's position from ¾ time to ½ time. There will be a lot of budget challenges. Michael said that he continues to be impressed by staff, and the way they continue to find ways to focus on educating students despite the lack of funding.
CORRESPONDENCE
Deb Kernen sent a thank-you to Dr. Cavens of Children's Community Resources. They provide money each year to an emergency fund that was recently tapped for a dental emergency.
CITIZENS REQUESTS
Mariah Reese said that the Yale PTO asked if the District will be expecting more cuts this year. Michael said that there were a lot of unknowns at this time. If legislators cut Levy Equalization it will cost the District $600,000.
BOARD REPORTS AND REQUESTS
Tina Cayton asked about the Board visits next week. She said she may be able to attend in the morning, but not all day. Jim Bays said that members could spend as much time as they can afford.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
Understanding Math Common Assessments Asha Riley made a presentation about understanding the Common Math Assessments, which included what students learn, and how teachers know they are learning. She explained that the assessment is to inform teachers how each student is approaching state math standards, so that they can modify their instruction and ensure greater success by the students. The Tech Department has helped with providing a way to track student data, which will follow students through grade levels so teachers can get a picture of how their class learns. Michael said that Asha has done an amazing job. Asha said that Evergreen School District has been very supportive and she appreciates the partnership with them.
*Michael Green asked the Board to adjust the agenda. He requested that the Consent Agenda be moved to the bottom of the agenda as there was voucher on the Consent Agenda, paying for the TEAM H.S. portable, that needed to wait until Resolution No. 2542 has been approved.
PUBLIC HEARING
President, Jim Bays, opened the public hearing for the capital projects budget extension at 8:00pm. Stacy Brown said that the extension was needed because she had not anticipated the need for the TEAM High portable or receipt of the Apple Award when she created the budget last year. The funds are there, but the authority was not. So she is asking for this budget extension. The hearing closed at 8:03pm.
