STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE REPORT

Mia Patterson reported that school had started and all the students were impressed with the gym renewal project that Paul Huddleston had overseen. The football team has lost to Kalama and Ridgefield, but the Senior Kick-off Dance went well. Though the volleyball team lost to Centralia, they believe they will have a good season. High School students are excited about the AP US History for college credit program. Students are interested in this and enjoying getting the college credit.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Mr. Green reported a good start to the school year.  Enrollment is still down a little from last year, but well above projections. There are more 2nd and 4th graders than anticipated. TEAM High and Yale are lower in enrollment. This prompted Mr. Green and Mr. Houk to transfer a half-time teacher from Yale to WPS.  Mr. Green, Mr. Houk and Mr. Madsen, met with parents from Yale last week to discuss the teacher transfer. The first all-staff get together of the year was this morning. Board members, Jim Bays and Janice Watts attended.

CORRESPONDENCE

The Board reviewed two thank you letters from scholarship recipients Max Essig and Jessica Pain. The Board viewed thank you letters that will be sent to Grace Community Church for helping to clean up schools before the start of school, the American Legion/VFW for a donation of backpacks with school supplies, and to Columbia Bank for the magnetic calendars.

Mr. Green said that correspondence was sent to Tina Cayton's attention by a parent. This was referred to Administration for follow-up. He will provide follow-up information to the Board.

CITIZENS REQUESTS

Mariah Reese thanked Mr. Green and Mr. Madsen for coming to Yale last week to explain and answer questions about the teacher transfer.
