Re:      December and January Review

Here is an overview of the key activities we worked on in relation to teaching and learning the last two months.

Monday's: We used our Monday's for department collaboration and Navigation preparation.  The two Monday's in January were targeted 7-12 meetings to look at vertical department issues.  It is interesting to note that because of Holiday's, there were only 4 Monday's for staff development during the months of December and January.

Finals:  Finals went well with a high percentage of student attendance for the tests and a very serious tone was felt throughout the high school.  A special thank you is order for Jody Brentin for building a plan that worked for our shared staff between the middle school and high school.  This was important because we were running different schedules (the MS was traditional and the HS was goofy) during finals.

Other information: I previously sent you a copy of our 1^st semester grades and the downward trend of "f's" for our students is encouraging. We have made one slight adjustment to our intervention plan which will affect 11 of our most needy students. Overall, one year later, the feedback, both anecdotal and data, in relation to Opportunity Time are quite positive. Second semester has started smoothly and we had very few kids who classes needed to be adjusted because of failing grades.
