RE:                 WPS MONTHLY UPDATE

Between now and Christmas break, 2nd grade teacher Danielle Flanagan will be hosting Master Teacher Roxanne Stuart as they Pilot a Read Well Writing Curriculum.  During several sessions, a unit of this new curriculum will be presented to students by Mrs. Stuart alongside Mrs. Flanagan.  Students will benefit from expert, experienced writing instruction, and classroom teacher will benefit from co-teaching and professional development in writing instruction.  Publisher Sopris West is sponsoring this endeavor, and will be donating to our school replacement Read Well student materials that have worn out.

Conferences have been completed, and in early December WPS Report Cards will be sent home to families.  A notable piece of our student data system is that our technology department has worked with Malinda Huddleston to create our own in-house Student Progress System(SPS).  The system is in place and is now being run through several times to test for reliability in preparation for teachers inputting data in November.

This project represents a major milestone in our capability to track and provide real-time relevant data and reporting of student progress.  Not to mention it will save our school $1,500 annually.

Coming Up

WPS will host a Veteran's Day Recognition Assembly on Tuesday, November 10th at 8:45 in the morning.  All Veteran's and local service personnel will be honored with a program whose theme focuses on our flag.  All are invited to attend.
