DATE: April 17, 2026

SUBJECT: Facilities Department Progress and Project Update

Executive Summary

The Facilities Department has made some changes in the last month in order to improve district infrastructure and streamline our maintenance workflows. This memo outlines our recent completions, ongoing safety initiatives, and upcoming seasonal transitions.

Key Project Updates

  1. Facilities Work Flow and Safety Training
    • The Facilities Department has implemented a weekly Monday meeting in order to populate a workflow calendar that we can share with building Administration.
    • These meetings will also cover a weekly safety topic, such as ladder safety, chemical use, and PPE.
  1. District-Wide Safety

Kristen and Damon are coordinating safety training for custodial staff as well as substitutes on location and operation of emergency shutoffs such as gas and power.

  1. Grounds Maintenance & Spring Transition

As we transition into the spring sports season, the grounds crew is prioritizing field readiness.

    • Irrigation: All systems have been de-winterized and tested.
    • Equipment: Our equipment has been serviced and is ready for heavy use as the weather improves.
  1. Spring Break
    • Over Spring Break, we got the buildings detail cleaned, TVs added to several classrooms, many work orders completed and had a new roof installed on the covered play area at Columbia Elementary School.
    • We received the unassembled new Freezer that will be going in for food services at Columbia Elementary School.

Budget

A recent review with Business Services indicates that we are on track to complete the school year within budget.
