Last week I attended a Speech Language Pathologists/Sp Ed. job recruiting fair in Bellingham. I was on a 3 person panel that represented SLP perspective in the schools, hospital settings and private practice. I was fortunate to be asked to present to 50 first and second year SLP graduates on why they should choose a career as an SLP in the school setting.  I've attached a copy of my presentation for your information.  It was the first time I've ever attended an SLP recruiting fair where the students were lined up to talk to me about the possibility of working in Woodland!!!  I've since arranged for 2 of the students to do site visitations this month where they will spend the day shadowing our SLP and meet with some of our special ed staff.  I am cautiously hopeful that we may be able to hire someone to replace our very expensive SLP agency contract.  I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

In other news....I had the first Hi C Program Review committee meeting last month.  The following people are on the committee:  Walt Stokeman, parent, Carey Hansen, parent, Karalee Renner, parent, Dave Collins, parent, Cyndi Sutton, teacher, Tara Eilts, teacher, Chris Wiseman, WIS principal & Mark Houk, WPS principal.  The charge of the committee is to conduct a self study utilizing an OSPI tool to identify strengths and weaknesses of the program.

I will keep you updated on our progress with both of these topics.
