Re: CTE Board Report
As you know, when Paul Huddleston resigned, he also left a .4 CTE position in the shop. We posted the position in a variety of ways trying to attract a qualified candidate, but the wages we offer don’t compete well with the wages industry professionals make. Therefore, we were unable to fill the position with a highly qualified candidate.
We are fortunate to have an excellent emergency substitute with some previous experience who was willing to take the position. In working with Vicky, we were able to get him qualified to teach the CTE course under a conditional certificate.
In light of the circumstances, we have entered into a small contract with WABTO to provide this teacher with additional support. WBTO is a local company that offers a range of supports for the development of CTE programs, including CTE Advisory Board Facilitation, industry need-based curricula, equipment repair and maintenance, resource acquisition, and training and support for educators. So far, the support has been excellent, and the metals programs are continuing with great success.
