RE: Yale Elementary Report

Yale students have been busy learning! This is the best time of the year for extensive academic growth. Our teachers have finished analyzing Winter reading and math data and have made some really sound decisions about student placement into interventions. We have two staff who have agreed to be trained in the BARTON reading and spelling system. This new program will help our students who exhibit characteristics of Dyslexia obtain a multisensory approach to teaching reading and spelling.

Our students went on their 2nd field trip of the year to OMSI in January and are set to attend the Zoo in May. We are so appreciative of Advanced Signs for donating money to enable our students to have more off-campus learning opportunities.

Last week the WMS art teacher Clarissa Rinehart spent a day in our classrooms teaching engaging art projects to each grade level. These projects will be displayed at the WSD Art Fest in May. Our students will attend the art fest and stop for a Burgerville lunch on their way back to school. This opportunity is also sponsored by a donation from Advanced Signs.

Yale is partnering with our construction class at WHS to build a student store. The project is coming along, and our students are excited to have their own storefront in our school. The store will be used as an incentive for behavioral and academic achievements.
