RE: Tech Dept. Executive Summary

As the year winds up we are already starting to prepare for the next. We have new Chromebooks for our 9th-grade students, and to fill in for the 4th-grade devices that those students will bring up to the middle school with them. With the board's support, we will be ensuring that K-4 retains the 1:1 access to devices that they have had this year. This means a cart in every classroom, with a device for every student. Over the summer we’ll be checking over all the returned home devices, ensuring that they are cleaned up and working correctly, replaced where they have aged out, and wiring them back up into carts.

Since our department expanded and the workload has been more evenly distributed we’ve been able to begin to catch up with some of our background projects, updating things, moving services to new systems, removing old, unused appliances, etc. There is more of this to do, and it will be a focus for us over the summer. Technology is always evolving and so in a sense this kind of churn is endless, but we’re again now managing it proactively enough that it should ensure greater security and stability of services for the district going forwards.
