Three years ago the school board expanded the WHS Trust Fund Scholarship program. This expansion was championed by Director Steve Madsen over the last two years. With Mr. Madsen's departure and the COVID crisis little has happened in regard to expanding resources to support the ongoing grant of funds to benefit WHS graduates.
The Scholarship fund currently has a balance of $54,000. The board will need to make a determination on how many scholarships it wishes to authorize us to grant and the amount of each scholarship. Over the last two years, we have granted a total of 43 $2500 scholarships.
This year we have 17 applicants for the scholarship. They have not yet been screened or interviews. Three questions need a decision:
1) How much should each scholarship be?
2) How many scholarships should be granted?
3) Does the board wish to have a Director on the selection panel, if so, whom?
