DISCUSSION ITEMS
Identify Budget Reductions should EP&O Levy Fail
The voters will have the opportunity to renew the EP&O levy this month. If the proposition fails to gain passage, the school district will be required to make $3 million in reductions in order to operate within budget next year. The board of directors reviewed possible reeducations in school-based services, district-wide staffing and supports, athletics, and special services. The decisions the directors face are very difficult, any cuts will have a significate impact on student learning. After very careful consideration of each item, the directors identified $3.2 million in cuts to staffing and programs if the levy fails on the April 28th special election. These cuts will include as many as 47 faculty and staff positions.
ACTION ITEMS
Waiver of Culminating Project Final Presentation Requirement
Director Stuart moved to suspend the requirement in School Board Policy 2410 requiring completion of the final project portion of the culminating project, and other elements of the culminating project, as deemed appropriate, on a case-by-case basis, by the school principal, as a graduation requirement for the class of 2020.
