The board will have the opportunity to engage in a linkage roundtable with members of our staff team. After putting out a general invitation to our certificated and classified staff, we had several volunteers who represent many roles, programs, and responsibilities across the school district. The goal of these conversations is to help you, as members of the school board, deepen your understanding of our schools, what is working well, and how you can support the work of our employees as they work for children. These conversations give you important information and perspective that can guide your work in developing policy, setting budgets, and establishing goals.
The conversations will be relatively open-ended, allowing for an open exchange with our employees. There will four groups that are organized by the type of work employees do.
To allow for equity of voice, the board will divide into smaller groups, 2 or 3 board members in each of four sessions. (2 sessions per focus group). We want to welcome candid (but hopefully respectful) conversations, so administrators will not be engaging with the conversations.
Groups will be set up in classrooms, and directors will move by the schedule below.
Following the fourth session, the board will reconvene and share out their reflections on what they have heard.
