RE:                 WMS Summary of Teaching and Learning - April

During April, WMS staff has been working collaboratively on Mondays to develop curriculum and assessments.  Next year health will be incorporated into physical education curriculum and time devoted once a week.  Cheryl Nesbitt has been the leader in this development and such topics will include the HIV/AID training, Project Success (drug and alcohol prevention curriculum), and nutrition.  Debby Shoup and Ashley Yoder have put the KNOW curriculum (HIV/AIDS) on-line and WMS is piloting it in May.

April was also devoted to working on staffing with John Shoup.  Once again, we have creatively found a way to utilize staff between buildings.  The most wanted classes by WMS students for next year are the CTE classes.  They cannot get enough of Vetter and Farnell.  I have to admit, I love it when our office looks like a furniture store on the days students get their projects to take home.

Mr. Rippl and I have been getting ready for MSP.  We are taking the reading and math portions on-line.  We are also one of two schools in the state piloting the LINUX lab.  I have been collaborating on the testing process with Mike Hamilton from Kalama.  That has been extremely helpful.  WMS will start MSP testing May 12.
