Woodland School District’s Transitional Bilingual Instruction Program (TBIP) is mandated and guided by state and federal laws. It provides support for two hundred and twenty multilingual students, their families, and staff.
These students bring rich cultural and linguistic assets to their classrooms as they engage in this journey. We are committed to honoring and preserving students’ languages and cultures while developing English proficiency, supporting multilingualism, and high academic achievement for all students.
Multilingual Learners (MLLs) need strong support to develop critical academic skills and to reach the same levels as their peers in English Language Arts (ELA), mathematics, and all content areas. To close these gaps, WSD focuses on supporting multilingual learners and their families at every level through an asset based mindset. Our goal is to accurately assess, effectively teach and equitably support these students:
